About Ngaliwurri-Wuli Aboriginal Corporation

Timber Creek is located on the Victoria Highway approximately 600 kilometres south-west of Darwin, in an area known for its scenic escarpments and recreational fishing.

The Ngaliwurru-Wuli Aboriginal Corporation (NWAC) was formed over 35 years ago under the NT Associations Act to serve as an Outstation / Homelands Resource Centre, servicing homelands communities in the Big Rivers Region west of Katherine. NWAC’s footprint covers the region from Menggen (SW of Katherine) to Brumby Plains on the NT / WA border.

NWAC is CAL registered and provides support to homeland outstation residents through building and asset maintenance, including essential services such as power, water and sewerage. NWAC applies for and receives contracts through various NTG Departments to undertake infrastructure construction and maintenance on NTG assets in the region.

NWAC also performs other Civil and Construction work to government departments and work for the public in general. NWAC’s staff include carpenters, plumbers, painters, steel fabricators and an electrician.

Overview

The position is responsible for repairs and maintenance services of building assets within the region, ensuring that tenants are supported, properties are maintained, and services are appropriately managed.
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Community’s water supply and sewerage services. The position also involves ongoing maintenance and installation of the Community’s plumbing, gas fitting and drainage needs and any other essential services from time to time.

Key Duties

  • Carry out all approved plumbing and gas maintenance requests on building assets as required under NWAC funding Agreements and Work Orders.
  • Respond efficiently to customer enquiries regarding maintenance requests.
  • Liaise with Government and non-Government representatives to meet their maintenance and asset management needs.
  • Comply with Territory Housing requests for maintenance, and construction requests as per agreed contracts and in accordance with the agency policies.
  • Under the approval of CEO source quotes for equipment and materials as required for plumbing operations so that adequate stocks are maintained to ensure works are capable of being performed.
  • Maintain the security of plumbing plant, equipment and materials.
  • Adhere to all NWAC policies, procedures, and legislative requirements including Work, Health and Safety of self and others.
  • Other duties as required and directed by the CEO.
