Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation (AAC) is a not-for-profit Aboriginal organisation with Head Office in Tom Price, WA. Our mission is to establish and maintain an environment that benefits people through the creation of culturally appropriate employment and enterprise opportunities, and the provision of education and training services throughout the Pilbara. Our footprint extends across much of the vast Pilbara region, and we have been successfully supporting the development of opportunities for Aboriginal people in the region for many years.
Overview
The Community Projects Mentor will work in tandem with any Employment Pathway Advisor(s) to ensure that there is a linkage between the assessed requirements and preferences of jobseekers and participation in community identified priority projects.
The Community Projects Mentor will play an active role in any community engagement and information dissemination to help ensure that any projects or support programs on offer are consistent with the priorities identified by the community.
The Community Development Program (CDP) is administered by the federal government’s National Indigenous Australian’s Agency (NIAA). CDP assists eligible job seekers in remote locations build employable skills while contributing to their community.
Pivotal to the role is an ability to travel throughout the region and work on-site in remote locations in order to ensure equitable services are provided to communities and individual jobseekers.
