The Warmun Community Inc (WCI) is seeking Expressions of Interest for this important position.
Warmun is an Aboriginal community in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. It sits on the Great Northern Highway, approximately 200km south-west of Kununurra, 160km north of Halls Creek and 800km northeast of Broome. It is a well-established community with a floating population of around 600-700, mostly Gija people. Most people reside in Warmun while up to a third of the population comes and goes from the surrounding outstations of Frog Hollow (largest outstation community with an approximate population of 60 people), Bow River, Norton Bore, Violet Valley and Crocodile Hole. Outstations have basic infrastructure; houses, water, diesel generated power supply, septic systems, and road access. Frog Hollow also has a small Independent Aboriginal School.

Warmun Community and outstations are managed centrally by an incorporated body [Warmun Community (Turkey Creek) Incorporated] with an elected Community Council. It has a police station; a state government health clinic; Catholic School (kindergarten to Year 9); an early learning centre; the community owned Warmun Roadhouse and Wungkul Store; the internationally acclaimed Warmun Art Centre and Kija Rangers.

Warmun Community’s main sources of funding are Commonwealth and State Government grants and income generated by community-owned enterprises.
