About Ngaliwurri-Wuli Aboriginal Corporation

Timber Creek is located on the Victoria Highway approximately 600 kilometres south-west of Darwin, in an area known for its scenic escarpments and recreational fishing.

The Ngaliwurru-Wuli Aboriginal Corporation (NWAC) was formed over 35 years ago under the NT Associations Act to serve as an Outstation / Homelands Resource Centre, servicing homelands communities in the Big Rivers Region west of Katherine. NWAC’s footprint covers the region from Menggen (SW of Katherine) to Brumby Plains on the NT / WA border.

NWAC is CAL registered and provides support to homeland outstation residents through building and asset maintenance, including essential services such as power, water and sewerage. NWAC applies for and receives contracts through various NTG Departments to undertake infrastructure construction and maintenance on NTG assets in the region.

NWAC also performs other Civil and Construction work to government departments and work for the public in general. NWAC’s staff include carpenters, plumbers, painters, steel fabricators and an electrician.

Position Summary

  • Repair and maintenance of all plumbing requirements as advised by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Housing Manager. This may at times require working out of normal business hours.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of NWAC Contractors Pty Ltd services, implementation of all policies, adherence to legislative requirements, financial accountability and the promotion of community development, self-management and employment.
  • Maintain open dialogue with the NWAC CEO, housing staff and NWAC Board ensuring a smooth relationship is in place.
  • Because of the sometimes limited plumbing work availability it is necessary for the plumbing (plumber) position to be able to assist other NWAC Contractors Pty Ltd staff in other trade/work areas on occasions and as necessary.

Relationship with the Corporation

  • Promote community development and self-management.
  • Advise and seek instructions from Corporation on policy issues.
  • Provide advice and support to the CEO, President and elected members of Corporation.
  • Support training and education needs of employees.
  • Liaise with members on delivery of services with all relevant information.

Hours

The normal work hours for this position will be between NWAC’s normal office hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM daily, 5 days per week. Up to of 38 hours per week – these hours may vary by mutual agreement from time to time within NWAC’s normal office & business work hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm.

This position reports to NWAC Contractors Pty Ltd Trades Supervisor & CEO of Ngaliwurru-Wuli Aboriginal Corporation.

Requirements

  • Completion of Plumbing apprenticeship/trade certificate.
  • Experience working as a Plumber.
  • Plumber’s license (will be required to supervise an apprentice)
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Child Safety Ochre Card
  • Current Police Check
