This position is responsible for coordinating the Mardbalk Ranger Group and for working with Aboriginal land and sea owners and managers across multiple islands and sea country as well as mainland areas, to maximise their participation in all caring for land and sea country activities.

Applicants should possess a sound knowledge of Aboriginal Caring for Country management opportunities and constraints, with demonstrated ability to effectively manage work teams in remote locations. You will have experience working with Aboriginal communities in coordinating resource management projects, from planning through to implementation and reporting.

Good communication, negotiation and community consultation skills, with tertiary qualifications in natural resource management or a social science, community development, public policy or related discipline, and/or extensive relevant experience are essential.

A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and issues, with the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people is required, as is possession of a ‘C’ class drivers licence and ability to safely drive 4WD drive vehicles.
