  • Annual Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 (dep) each
  • Annual Leave: 5 weeks inclusing 17.5% leave loading
  • Accommodation: Suitable accommodation in a furnished house will be provided at $50 per week rent

  • Extras: On completion of the probationary period, relocation expenses will be reimbursed, and the employee will receive a travel and utility allowance. The employees may be entitled to enter a salary sacrifice agreement based on the appropriate policy criteria.

 

 

About Bidyadanga

Bidyadanga is the largest remote Aboriginal community in Western Australia with a population of approximately 750 residents. It is home to the Karajarri, Juwaliny, Mangala, Nyangumarta and Yulparija language groups. The recognised Traditional Owners of the land are the Karajarri people.

Rich in history, art and culture and with a developing economy, Bidyadanga has many community facilities and infrastructure to support its people, along with great fishing opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts.

It is located near the coast of La Grange Bay, approximately 13km from the Great Northern Highway, 175km South of Broome, and 400km North of Port Hedland.

About The Roles

We are looking for two experienced food service and general store workers, (ideally a couple) who will add value to our already thriving community store.

Reporting to the Store Managers, this unique role combines the creativity and responsibility of food preparation and catering, with the customer service and retail skills required to support our general store operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare a variety of food items to sell to customers and for catering purposes. This includes hot meals, sandwiches and specialty items
  • Catering responsibilities such as menu planning and confirming quantities, delivery times and any other special requests.
  • Prepping and cooking meals ahead of events, ensuring food is fresh and meets quality standards.
  • Ensure food safety cleanliness standards are always strictly adhered to.
  • Maintain inventory of food and catering supplies, ensuring stock levels are sufficient for day-to day operations.
  • Cleaning and sanitising the kitchen at a high standard
  • Supporting store operations by operating the point-of-sale (POS) system, scanning items and processing payments.
  • Stocking shelves

Experience

  • Extensive cooking experience within a roadhouse, café or restaurant environment
  • Good knowledge of Work Health & Safety and Food Safety and hygiene
  • Good understanding of food preparation and catering in a commercial environment
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment
  • Retail experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in a cross-cultural setting
  • Current National Police Clearance.
  • Basic computer skills
